Lets begin with some facts that I don’t feel are in dispute. Carbohydrates are one of our main Macro nutrients, and therefore have an essential role to play in our overall nutritional profile. They can be sectioned into categories such as Simple and Complex, and can then also be further divided into Sugars, Starches and Fibrous collections. As far as the body is concerned, they are the major food fuel and are the preferred food fuel for the vast majority of our regular energy requirements and expenditure. They are not the ‘enemy’ and they should not be removed from our food intake for prolonged periods or time.
